As you know, our curling club has long been a hub of community spirit, friendly competition, and fun. For many of us, it’s a place where lifelong friendships have been formed, and it’s where we come together to share our love of the game.
As we continue to grow and strive to provide an excellent experience for our members, we must also maintain and improve our beloved facility. The most urgent project that we are currently facing is the replacement of the roof – both over the arena as well as the clubhouse.
Over time, the roof has suffered great wear and tear, and it has become abundantly clear that a full replacement is necessary to ensure the safety and comfort of all who enjoy the facility. The failing roof has already started to impact the playing conditions and quality of the ice surface by dripping when it rains or melts.
Why We Need Donations
As a non-profit organization coming out of some lean years and a pandemic, the Deer Lodge Curling Club does not have any cash reserves to turn to. We are making additional Grant applications, but they are by no means guaranteed to be successful, and that is why we are turning to the membership. There has not been a capital campaign or membership drive at the DLCC since 2001, which was the last time that the arena roof was replaced. We are reaching out and asking for your support in helping us raise the funds needed to complete this essential project.
The total cost for this project of replacing both roofs is estimated at $275,000. The good news is that we already have secured $75,000 from the Province of Manitoba through the ACSC Grant.
NATIONAL SPORT TRUST FUND – PARTNERSHIP ANNOUNCEMENT
You may be reading this and wondering why we are only launching this campaign towards the end of the curling season, and that is because we were busy researching and exploring some exciting options that will help aid in the fundraising efforts! They took some time and due diligence – and we have been anxiously awaiting approval from multiple partner organizations on our project.
We are excited to announce that the Deer Lodge Curling Club’s “Raise the Roof and Beyond” campaign – is a project of the National Sport Trust Fund (NSTF) which is a program of the Canadian Council of Provincial and Territorial Sport Federations Inc. (CCPTSF) and is administered provincially by Sport Manitoba. The CCPTSF has the ability to issue charitable tax receipts for any qualifying donations received in support of programs that support the development of amateur sport on a National level, of which our project is approved under.
Donations are Tax-Deductable
This means that any donations made to the Raise the Roof and Beyond campaign through the National Sport Trust Fund will be eligible for a tax receipt.
Every donation – no matter the size – will bring us one step closer to securing the future of our club. We have created suggested tiers and donation levels as illustrated in the diagram to the right (or below if you are viewing on mobile). All donors will be recognized (unless you wish to remain anonymous) at the conclusion of the campaign with your name proudly displayed on a framed picture or plaque that will be hung at the club.
